Welding coordination¶
This section exists because of what happened in 2021. The previous system was well written and went dormant when the H&S and Compliance Manager left. Nothing in a document set prevents that — only a recorded, recurring coordination routine does.
Current position
The RWC's IWE/EWE competence evidence is not yet held, which means the appointment is not operative and TWI cannot process the application. Twenty-five welder continuity confirmations are overdue. The activity log holds no entries.
The cadence¶
| When | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Per job | Technical review before job cards are released | Welding Coordinator · RWC authorises |
| Per job | Welder allocation checked against qualification and continuity | Welding Coordinator |
| Monthly | Confirmations falling due identified and sent to the RWC | Welding Coordinator |
| Monthly | RWC signs confirmations; signing recorded in the activity log | RWC |
| Quarterly | WPS/WPQR validity, welder coverage, NDT personnel currency | RWC |
| Quarterly | Welding non-conformance trends reported | RWC |
| Annually | Internal audit, management review, standards check, manual review | RWC · GM |
A period with no entries in the activity log is a non-conformance against the manual and is raised under QP03.
Activity log¶
The activity log is a candidate for live entry through this portal — see Registers for the standing lists that record it.
Controlled copy. The controlled master of every document in this system is the
file held on the IDM server in the welding management system folder structure. This portal is a
controlled view of it. Where the two differ, the server file governs.
