Procedure coverage¶
Which welders can run which procedure — the relationship in which single-point failure lives. It is maintained as a live register:
- WPS / WPQR / welder coverage matrix (WMS-C-10) — who holds each procedure, and where coverage is thin.
- Welder qualification register (WMS-D-03) — the certificates behind it, their expiry, and when each BS EN ISO 9606-1 clause 9.2 continuity confirmation is next due.
Two procedures have one qualified welder each. WPS-IDM-CS03-BW and WPS-IDM-SS01-BW are held by J. Gallagher alone; if he is unavailable, production to both stops. The historic holders, H. Walker and T. Crawford, have left IDM — so a fresh BS EN ISO 9606-1 qualification round is the only route out of that exposure. It needs budgeting.
None of it is valid today
Every current welder certificate at IDM runs to 2028 and every one of them has blank BS EN ISO 9606-1 clause 9.2 continuity confirmation boxes. Under clause 9.2 the confirmation is what keeps the qualification alive, so the printed expiry date confirms nothing on its own. The first window fell due in March 2026. Until the Responsible Welding Coordinator signs, no welder here may be allocated to certified work — see WI-02.
