Shared process
This process serves both disciplines. The controlled procedure belongs to IDM's ISO 9001 system. The welding system references it and adds only what welding requires on top.
IDM's ISO 9001 document control procedure governs issue, revision, approval and withdrawal for both disciplines. The welding system adds no second procedure.
What the welding system relies on it for¶
- Issue and revision of the FPC & Welding Quality Manual, the WPS set and the blank forms
- Withdrawal of superseded revisions — the WPS at the booth must be the current one
- Retention and retrieval of welding records
Where it needs maturing¶
Welding records carry retention obligations that ordinary quality records may not. The manual states ten years as IDM policy; the requirements under BS EN 1090 and BS EN 15085-5 have not been verified against the standards. [TBC]
Superseded WPS and retired WPQR need a withdrawal route that reaches the shop floor, not just the
server. The folder structure provides Superseded and Retired folders for this.
