IDM31 shows the H&S and Compliance Manager as the previous post-holder's name struck through. It is recorded here as VACANT. A chart shown to a certification body should not carry a departed person's name — ask IDM to correct it at the next revision.

Notes on the allocation¶

Internal Welding Coordinator. The role performs twelve of the twenty essential welding tasks in Annex A, including inspection before, during and after welding, welder allocation and production planning. It requires positional authority over the welders and assessed competence under BS EN ISO 14731. An apprentice cannot hold this role. IDM31 Rev 9 gives two viable candidates and CRGI's recommendation is now D. Jones, with C. Moulton as the alternative. [TBC — IDM to confirm]

The internal coordinator inspects before, during and after welding, and cannot inspect a weld he made. C. Moulton is a working welder on most fab shop jobs, so appointing him builds a recurring exception into every job pack. D. Jones already owns production planning, sits above the fab shop, and is not in the daily welding line. His own coding needs dating and verifying by the RWC, but that is a smaller job than engineering around a permanent independence conflict.

Welders who have left. B. Spencer, R. Fellows, H. Walker and T. Crawford hold or held welder qualifications but do not appear on IDM31 Rev 9 and have left IDM. Their records are retained on the welder qualification register (WMS-D-03) so the position is recorded, and they are not counted towards coverage anywhere in this system.
- O. Rymer. Listed as Fabricator / Welder but appears on no qualification certificate in the evidence pack. He is carried on the welder qualification register (WMS-D-03) as NONE HELD so that the position is recorded rather than merely absent. Confirm whether he welds on certified work. If he does, a qualification to BS EN ISO 9606-1 is required before he does so again. [TBC]
- H&S and Compliance Manager. Vacant since 2021. The previous post-holder accepted Rev 0 of the welding manual, and welding coordination has been dormant since his departure. Annex A task B.20 currently has no holder. [TBC]
- Quality Manager. No Quality Manager appears on IDM31 Rev 9. Confirm who holds responsibility for the ISO 9001 system and therefore for the QP procedures referenced throughout IDM-FPC-WQM-001. [TBC]
- N. Collins-Hopkins holds welder qualifications while employed as an apprentice. That is not in itself a problem; her continuity position is being resolved by the RWC.

The RWC's authority runs to the internal coordinator and to the General Manager, not through the production reporting line. A referral to the RWC does not require the General Manager's permission.
