WI-03 · Filling in the weld log

On the day it happens. A log written up at the end of a job is worse than no log — an auditor can see it, and it makes everything else look invented.

  1. The weld log (WMS-E-04) is filled in as the work happens. Job Pack section 4.
  2. Every line: date · weld ID · material and cast number · consumable batch · WPS · welder ID · visual inspection.
  3. Weld IDs come from the weld map (WMS-E-02). If a weld is not on the map, it should not be being made.
  4. Temporary attachments and repairs get their own weld ID.
  5. File it in 04 Weld Log in the job folder, or complete it in the Job Pack on screen — not both.

Never fill the log in afterwards from memory.
