3. Review of requirements¶
Before any commitment to supply, a requirements review confirms the enquiry fits IDM’s scope of works. On receipt of an enquiry the following are checked:
- Customer requirements are clearly specified and documented, with specifications and manufacturing drawings available (repeat orders access existing filed information).
- Any customer-specific requirements or issues are resolved.
- Resource — material, labour, plant and equipment — is available for the anticipated date.
- IDM’s capability to meet the prescribed and any additional requirements.
When satisfactory, the IDM contract review sheet (the “design sheet”) is completed and the quote issued. The customer order and subsequent manufacturing-instruction documents are logged into the contract review sheet for use at the technical review stage if the job is won.
Controlled copy. The controlled master of every document in this system is the
file held on the IDM server in the welding management system folder structure. This portal is a
controlled view of it. Where the two differ, the server file governs.
