5. Sub-contracting

Processes that may be sub-contracted include profiling, heat treatment, painting/shot-blasting, non-destructive testing, and calibration/maintenance. Before engaging a sub-contractor, IDM assesses capability via a supplier quality assessment; approved suppliers are placed on the IDM Approved Suppliers List and only those are used. Sub-contractors provide records to verify work against the IDM purchase order (material certification, NDT procedures and operator qualifications, calibration certificates, dimensional checks, heat-treatment and painting reports).

Controlled copy. The controlled master of every document in this system is the file held on the IDM server in the welding management system folder structure. This portal is a controlled view of it. Where the two differ, the server file governs.
