9. Equipment and calibration¶
IDM maintains the production and testing equipment appropriate to its work — calibrated and maintained welding power sources, cutting/grinding/preparation equipment, pre-heating equipment, jigs and fixtures, handling equipment and PPE. Essential equipment and workshop capacity are recorded in the IDM Plant Register. New, repaired or refurbished equipment is tested before use and added to the asset register.
Welding plant is calibrated/validated at intervals not exceeding 12 months by an approved sub-contractor, with certificates held by the General Manager. Plant that fails calibration or whose calibration has expired is withdrawn and labelled “Not to be used”. Measuring and inspection equipment essential for production is registered and maintained with traceability to national/international standards.
